CONCEPT

Introduction

Our laboratory (Laboratory of Biopharmaceutics) is focusing on the research "Analysis of structure and function of serum proteins and their application to medicine". Specifically, we try to clarify the roles of serum albumin and α1-acid glycoprotein in the pharmacokinetics of drugs through analysis of the structures and functions of these proteins. Furthermore, we aim to construct a drug delivery system (DDS) that applies serum proteins to drug carriers.
Our laboratory members including PhD course students and undergraduate students are engaged in these research themes in order to the development of drugs with excellent efficacy and safety and the appropriate use of medicines.
Join us, and enjoy the research together?

Research themes

1.Analysis of structure and function of serum proteins

・Drug-serum protein interaction and its clinical implication.
・Changes in the quality and quantity of serum proteins in diseased states and their effects of protein functions.

2.Application of serum proteins

・Mechanism of anti-tumor effects of albumin nanoparticles loaded with doxorubicin
・Preparation and evaluation of drug-albumin conjugate.
・Preparation and evaluation of albumin-encapsulated liposome
・Improvement of solubility of hydrophobic drugs using albumin
